The Week Ahead

With football coming to a sudden halt and the basketball Vols sputtering toward their SEC schedule, what better time to post on something everyone loves to bandy about – recruiting. January is always the craziest month in the football recruiting world and it starts with the U.S. Army All-American game and Wednesday’s Under Armour All-American game.

For the Vols, it looks like Wednesday could be their only chance for a commitment in offensive line prospect Marcus Jackson (above), who is also considering Miami and Michigan State. Here is a list of prospects (via Volquest) that are competing in the games that the Vols are heavily involved in, or have already received a verbal commitment from:

U.S. Army All-American Game

DeAnthony Arnett (verbal commit)
Antonio Richardson
Jeoffrey Pagan
C.J. Johnson
Lateek Townsend
Jermauria Rasco
Lamar Dawson

These are Tennessee’s main targets at the U.S. Army game, though the Vols are still pursuing more guys that will be competing in the game.

Under Armour All-American Game

Mike Bellamy
Brandon Fulse
Marcus Jackson (expected to make his decision there)
A.J. Johnson (verbal commit)
Jay Rome
Gabe Wright

Same thing, still more guys but these are the most realistic.
